Using poetry as a bridge, they cross mountains and seas. On June 5, the Grain in Ear Poetry Gathering of the “Poetry Connects the World” A Global Celebration of Classical Chinese Poetry Grain in Ear,Grand Final to Endear, organized by the Chinese Language Education Partnership Center under the Ministry of Education, came to a close. A short video titled Shared Voices of the World, Harmonious Rhymes of Famous Mountains, created by our international students, won the highest award — the “Poetic Art and Elegance Prize”.

The event was centered on the theme “Harmony between Humanity and Nature” and invited Chinese language and poetry lovers worldwide to submit short video works. Our university actively organized 84 international students from 11 countries. Using famous mountains in Jiangxi as their theme, they recited classic poems such as The Waterfall in Mount Lu Viewed from Afar to showcase the beauty of the land and the charm of classical Chinese poetry to the world — demonstrating solid achievements in international Chinese language education and cultural outreach.

Four of our international students — Gan Yue from Madagascar, Bai Xihua from Russia, Ruan Lin from Vietnam, and Lu Xin from Mexico — were invited to attend the award ceremony and share their thoughts. They said the award was the result of the collective efforts of 84 students. Studying Chinese had brought them confidence and a deep love for the language. They called classical Chinese poetry “a timeless gift that travels across time and space.” In one voice, they said: “Poetry Connects the World, with mountains and waters as our witness. Let us meet again through poetry in the future!”
